Feeding the hunger. That’s what it felt like. La Gare, located in the 16th arrondissement is an enormous restaurant. We went there the first weekend the kids were away at Camp, because ‘I had always been curious about it’. It is heavily geared towards people with young who still need the distraction of a kiddie corner during those long brunch hours. An entire section of the restaurant is set aside for little people, complete with balloons, bowls of candy and stressed out minders.
The food is average, and this I think may be due to the sheer size of the place. It is enormous. Even the pictures below don’t quite show how huge this place is. So cooking for such an enormous place will most definitely lose some of that care, as it takes on a mass catering feel and scrimps on quality. It was not Bon, but then that’s a favourite of mine. Perhaps we would have had a better experience had we gone on any other day than the Sunday brunch, and tried their à la carte menu. As it stands: tried and not entirely impressed.
