Lest the title of this post be deceiving, the food is not old school. If anything, a modern take on everything, more fusion in fact. What is old school is the formality of the staff – the ways the waiters are ever-so-discrete, unobtrusive, but present all at the same time. It is in no way pretentious though, given its somewhat formal feel.
Bellagio serves seafood. So from your tuna ceviche, salmon served sashimi style with strawberries, avocado and herbs with a honey, sesame and soy dressing – one of my favourite dishes. Grilled calamari with chilli and lime, and a variety of specials which varies often to keep the menu interesting. The clientèle is a much older crowd, and it seems to have its regular diners. Think older ladies dining in pearls, business people on work lunches, some middle-aged couples. It has this old-world dining scene about it. I have been several times for lunch, but never dinner. I would imagine the ambience remains as cosy as it is in the daytime.
